wednesday's letter

stepping across the river is a shock..... will snow ever arrive

you

willow's roots run deep as my thoughts of you

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

dear wednesday

woke without creative breeze flowing thoughts

but wondering aimlessly through
old refrains by you

Thursday, January 13, 2011

frozen

steam from the river
clings to the trees

Monday, January 10, 2011

dawn's cold

beware little critters shouted crow
hawk bird glides to and fro

end of the storm

the glittering grin of moon sitting atop the cliffs
outlined the rim of the snow

Wednesday, May 05, 2010

wish

star opens her eyes
at three past eight
this night

wednesday's letter

laughable mud hens scoot across the lake
disappearing and appearing in some kind of game of tag
digging my paddle into the bottom i stop to admire
before drifting on to the far end of the reservoir

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

wednesday's letter

brings
melancholy
as winds tell
of your struggle

storm

stripes of sunlight race the earth
as sliced dark clouds dash ahead

ebrace

bending limbs before the wind
where apple blossoms cling
they do

Sunday, February 28, 2010

full moon

naps the day away
in a canyon deep
south of the river

sun does

curled crimson like a cat
clinging to the mountain top
while night sneaks in

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

this week i fear

capturing the future
slipped from my fingertips
shattered endeavors make me weep
like the last time i knew you

me

im still a silly pony always
wanting to gallop but left kicking at the gate
instead

air

i still give cloud shapes a name
and know colours of lavendar pull up the sun
and the air after midnight changes but i dunno you

Thursday, January 28, 2010

limbs do

laden with snow
touching and nodding
in the gentle zephyr

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

entering into a
thundercloud

the fence

cat and moon rests on the fence
wondering whats in the night

reclouse

chosing to live on the cusps of the forest lets me see sunsets
admiring colours it presents upon the landscape
yet retreat into the dark shadowed trees
to ponder without starlight some nights

Friday, January 01, 2010

good afternoon to you

moon nods at three oclock
backed by cold blue
retiring quickly before night fall

enduring

moon hangs by the tiniest star
lingering as i do

blue moon

twice
you shined upon me
and thee

Sunday, November 22, 2009

tomorrow....

tonight twilight slipped down through teal then sienna
something is stirring the horizon yonder

Saturday, November 21, 2009

new moon

new moon points the way
from my life to yours
knowing the path exists
is almost enough today

Saturday, November 14, 2009

this day

im thankful for the quiet and glow
brought by fog and falling snow

Sunday, November 08, 2009

dark

sun dips behind the cliffs
leaving space for the cold
to slip from the corners of the room

Thursday, October 01, 2009

yesterday's rain

flat bottomed clouds scooting by
as if on sleds in the sky

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

lexis

i miss you words’
intensity and flavor
conciseness to savor
your directions and sweetness

absence

everything i do i fear
but i do as i select regardless
we hold the bridge for you my dear
awaiting your reentry

Sunday, September 13, 2009

half moon day

purple posies scantly marks the trail
as hawk bird races me up the gulch
with entertaining aerobatics
and i plop from rock to rock

Friday, September 11, 2009

moon nine

moon nine is a hunter’s moon
as elk saunter to the pond 200 or more
shadows of the pines turn indigo long in the afternoon
they slosh and bubble in the milky light
sensing the beginning of folk lore

Monday, September 07, 2009

7:01 pm

obtrusive sun sat moon’s spot
swayed a moment then revolved away

Sunday, September 06, 2009

8:23 am

like a knotted silvery thread
moon rolls down the other side of the hill
out of sight to greet another’s night

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

you agan

your thoughts came to me
and i leaded against a tree or three
then on down the stony road i walked

moon arrives

where will you stand
when the harvest moon climbs
and shines through the swaying trees

what will you feel when its power flows
like the river into your eyes
and will i know

Saturday, August 15, 2009

zephyr no

violence of the winds
fling apples to the ground
wafting words away with no sound
my heart before you bends

why

cattails curl at the waters edge
as from the ledge my legs hang
dangling like my thoughts on you today

meadow lake at noon

indigo waves break
crafting sun lightening across her floor
as radiant veins snake the sand

quiet

trees announce the breeze
but brings no word from you
are you across the sea
are you well or are you spying on me

fall

star drags down moon
until one after the other
dips into the river

Thursday, July 09, 2009

and me....

moon the colour of tea
emerges for me to see
then slips behind scarves of clouds
changing the shadows of life

Saturday, June 27, 2009

half moon

naps the day away
deep in the canyon
south of the river

Thursday, June 04, 2009

sometimes

nasturtiums like dreams
twist and curls on slender stems
laden with blooms and leaves as huge as lily pads

moon light

like broken glass the river gleans as it rushes by

Friday, May 22, 2009

solitude

loneliness shines
edging out your form with a soft glare
it will not let me be

Friday, April 17, 2009

count um

the ability of quick wise thought
behind a spoken word
is a blessing.

Saturday, April 11, 2009

reply

soft breeze filled with mist
sails my thoughts to you

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

waterside

kick back style
fantasia guitar in hand
toying with summer dreams
and you

Monday, March 30, 2009

ouch

1 2 3 4 twirl and dance
winds hurl snow upon my face
turning back now on world too cruel

in from the cold

the spelling bee
hums to me
wishing to be free

Sunday, March 29, 2009

storm

wind does weep with her heavy load
filled with enmity she snowed
without your again

Wednesday, February 04, 2009

ame-o

cream like the portuguese sun
left softly delicious upon my lip
coats my words when i think of home
and at last of you

olá

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

the sea

my palms brush
the grass tops as i walk though summer
god! the sea beside me is so blue

Sunday, January 11, 2009

some days

life seems the same struggle
as slipping a pillow into its case
neither texture nor color makes
it easy

sometimes

evening is like a layered cake
of heathered purple yellow then orange
with blue icing dripping down and over
the edge of the plate

and as tasteless as the day

Sunday, January 04, 2009

one in the same - almost

a walk in summer is almost as good
as reading a poem in winter

Monday, December 15, 2008

modern?

once pinned to the shoulder right
flowers showed a girl's intent
now wearing boyfriend’s
levis 501 is in

Thursday, December 04, 2008

winter

sun jumped the river
and sat the opposing mountain
frowning at the cold

Monday, November 24, 2008

sadly so

melancholy wraps me
like morning’s early breeze
like a horizon with no mountains
like a sky without you

you

rain dissolves
the wave froth before it slips up the bank
reeling back into the underworld
like you

Friday, November 21, 2008

yellow

hello full moon
wishing you well
at new moon time

Saturday, November 15, 2008

mornings

a spirit kindly touches my face
offering a kiss

accepting now i could

day

lavender pulls up the sun
flaming the cliffs persimmon
yet none waken to herald
the battles of the night

asking who won

Monday, November 10, 2008

fruition

as welsh drunkards mourning
sweet passages from the past
nothing will sober more
than drunken tuesday

colour

like peacock feather
clouds unfurl in twilight
as iridescent dots of snow fall

will you?

i go every year to decompress
to smell the cold to jar the last rays of sun
to wake to creaking trees to fall asleep to wind
to make sense of migrant birds and slumbering soil
to grasp it all before others arrive

Friday, November 07, 2008

Thursday, November 06, 2008

partly mine

half hidden moon
burns bright
and dark
split in the middle
like all of life’s little mysteries

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

blustery storm

wide winged crow
zigzagged my path
so low stirring the air
wide winged crow

crisscrossed dare

whisper i hear

snow breeze
lifts a bee
from tangled hair

a secret did he tell?

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

true

crow cries loss of jingoist brings
compatriot
but why if all is lost i wonder
and never returns you?

now

your whispers in my ear just now
asked how i felt
without your words
like you without mine i suppose
dread and near tears

soft sound of nothingness

lazy clouds droop to the ground
mingling with brown earth’s
yellow leaves turned and
wet snow

Sunday, October 26, 2008

autumn

like a lacy slip snow covers the ground daintily
exposing a yellow leaf turned here and there

Friday, October 17, 2008

autumm

moon drifts south across the bluffs
leaving crispness in the air as it goes

Monday, October 13, 2008

garden's end

a new thrill
is the bloom of a dill
fragrance beauty yellow
fills each room

Saturday, September 27, 2008

again

your thoughts of me turn my heart and head
left wondering what thing brought about
your thinking of me quietly

memory

crisp wind swirls my hair
pulling thoughts of you
from the memory
of the yellow moon era

Tuesday, September 09, 2008

seeking

full moon bright stares at me
empty shell looks back
thinking thoughts of you

Sunday, August 17, 2008

you

my breathe hesitates
as thoughts of you float by
yesterday now and always

Friday, June 27, 2008

late

sly fox watches moon sitting high in the sky
as golden morning lays long shadows

Sunday, June 01, 2008

unoccupied

part of my heart
languishes
like the evening moon
not yet full

Thursday, May 08, 2008

starting over

we had lovely evening rains that washed away
the dirty snow leaving us all clean

reaching

i know you are on to me
grasping still i love thee
for no reasons but
to touch the things you cannot feel

vapors

isolation brings revelation much as
sunlight breaking through the clouds
on snow

lost again

seeking the self for others
lessens seek of self

Monday, May 05, 2008

sultry

bees work pink clusters
of the dainty china tea rose
nice sultry evening for a conversation

Thursday, May 01, 2008

again

among apple blossoms pink
and periwinkles blue
snow rests

some summer day

some summer day
come into my garden
rich the treasure
sweet the pleasure
fill the flowing bowl
with flowers for the soul

apron

any task requiring the white shroud of a crisp starched apron
to be splattered and stained charmes me
pastels n primaries are all favorites
and every mixture in between

there it is

a doe stomps her pretty little foot
causing a retreat to a low cedar branch
hoping for a glimpse of her spotted fawn

delectable

strolling the awakened vineyard
sipping last years samples
a favorite thing
and the goodliness of their dessert wine
come home with me by the case....

inside

dreamt your thoughts lay inside
larger than life dominating yet quiet
and in turn neither could i move nor think

shibori shibori

swish and swirls of colour
folding and twisting
binding and stitching
then compressing it all
garments of life fall

were i

were i

day dreams

manipulating fine milled masa and spices hot with finger tips
to encapsulate sweet pork, lavender and squash blossoms
infused aromas floating about originating from
tamales steaming securely in their husks
is the only way to spend an afternoon finishing a fairy tale

tree

apricot tree looms
thickened trunk
wounded limbs
laden with sweet white blooms
